Robinson make whole sale changes

Full story is here. Do not be fooled by this headline as reported in BBC sport. There are no wholesale changes, pretty much the team that finished the game against France is the team that will start against Ireland. Of the 7 players dropped, only Josh Lewsey is not in the squad and Hodgson does not count as being dropped as he is injured.

So what we actually have is five players coming off the bench to replace five players on the pitch. On talksport radio this afternoon Rodney Marsh asked why the people who were dropped were singled out when the whole team was pathetic. I can answer that, because the players on the bench have just taken the place of the players whose position they play in. There has been no real thought that has gone into this its just, lets bring them off the bench and see what they can do.

So in effect we have a fly half who will kick inaccurately most of the game, another hooker who can't find his men in a line out and a few more backs that can't tackle as well as other teams. The only change that really has nay merits is bringing Abbot at centre. This is very much a specialist position and a player of his caliber now has the chance to establish himself there for the rest of they year. As for those that are dropped, don't worry about them too much as I'm sure one if not all will end up finishing the game against Ireland. Fingers crossed everyone this could be a bumpy ride.
