Can England win?

Last week I accused the England cricket team of being like the England rugby team. Today I have to eat a large amount of humble pie on this one. They have put themselves in with an excellent chance of winning the final test match. I was surprised at the changes they made, drafting in some of the recently arrived one day squad. However this seems to have done the trick.

Batting first they managed a good 400 but would no doubt have been disappointed to not score more after being 250-3. The bowlers over the last couple of days have really stepped up to the mark, noticeably James Anderson. After breaking on to the scene a few years ago he has been on the fringes of the England team, but with a few more performances like this one and Simon Jones will have a real threat to his place. 4 wickets and a run out on top of a credible batting score put him in line for man of the match.

All that remains for England to do now is post a quick 250-275 and the bowl out India in the final four sessions... No problem there then. Seriously though you cannot ask for any more from this team. They have learned from the last test and have changed and improved, it's a pity the England Rugby team could not do the same.
