It's International week

England take on Uruguay at Anfield tomorrow night in their last friendly before the World Cup Squad is selected. The England team is as follows:

Paul Robinson (Tottenham), Gary Neville (Man Utd), John Terry (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd), Wayne Bridge (Fulham), David Beckham (Real Madrid), Michael Carrick (Tottenham), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Wayne Rooney (Man Utd), Darren Bent (Charlton)

With Michael Owen and Ashley Cole still out injured and now Frank Lampard out with a hamstring there are chances for some of the fringe players to put forward their case for selection. Wayne Bridge is an interesting one, after being out most of the season I'm not convinced that he is the man to fill Cole's shoes but then who else is there. He must take this chance and put up a strong performance.

I am also pleased that Sven has gone for Michael Carrick, he is an excellent player in the midfield holding role and is one of the reason why Tottenham are having such an excellent season. It seems incredible that Sven will pick a Spurs centre back to play in midfield ahead of an actual Spurs midfielder. However the person with the biggest chance is Darren Bent of Charlton. He has been in excellent form all season and deserves this. I think everyone realizes that Owen and Rooney will always be first choice and that Crouch will also be going, but the places after that are up for grabs. Sven knows what Defoe and Vassell are capable of and now he is giving Bent the chance to show his international credentials. He needs to grab this with both hands and put in a strong performance as this could well be the only chance he gets. Good luck Darren
